10th Bangkok Brand Identity & Typography Symposium

Typecast by Typeface:
How Thai Fonts Reveal Cultural Values

Did you know that Thai typography is a social and political battlefield where you can see the history and divisions of Thailand mapped out on the page? I spoke about that in ‘Typecast by Typeface: How Thai Fonts Reveal Cultural Values’ in the opening keynote talk of BITS 10. The 10th Bangkok Brand Identity & Typography Symposium was run by the leading Thai font foundry Cadson Demak. It was a wonderful three-day gathering, with so many fascinating, friendly type experts from around Asia, who have a unique and subtly influential role in their countries. Thanks to Anuthin Wongsunkakon for inviting me to speak.

BITS10 is an academic symposium centered on typography, graphic design, and branding. Participants will have the opportunity to explore, discuss, exchange ideas, and share insights into a variety of subjects, from design trends to corporate breakthroughs. This will take place through more than 20+ sessions of group discussions and conferences, featuring over 30+ expert speakers from around the world. The event's goal is to disseminate knowledge and inspire creative thinking over the course of 3 days!
